Daily Devotionals

One of the missions here at Camp Chara is to go beyond a week of two of youth camps per a year. That is why we take the time to create lessons from God's word designed for youth to read daily and grow in the Grace and Knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We pray each one of these devo's is a source of blessings and encouragement.

WHAT ARE YOU RUNNING AFTER

Hebrews 12:1 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”

Hello my name is Abigail, I’m 20 years old and I have a strong love for my Lord and Savior Jesus. I love writing, singing and of course God’s creatures. I work at an animal clinic and try my best to stay busy in church and with my college work. Now that I have told you a little about myself I want to start off today's devotional by talking about this verse I had you read (Hebrews 12:1). In this verse we are told to put away the things of this world and to get rid of the things that weigh us down and the sins that hold us back from truly seeking and knowing Jesus. As a Christian I still struggle with the idea of running after Jesus. I mean don’t get me wrong, I love my Lord and Savior but there are days where I let my life take over and get the best of me. One of the things I struggle with the most is worry. I worry so much about how I’m going to get through everything going on in my life. Then I stop and think for a minute, God is in control. If my God is in control of my life why should I worry? You see all that worrying holds me back from truly being able to seek and know my God. Now I know I’m far from perfect, we all are, but if we keep seeking after Jesus and running towards Him, our race can be won. The struggles and sins that are holding us back are what slows us down and keeps us from our goal. What is something you’re struggling with in your life right now? Whether it is sin, or a struggle of any kind. Take that and pray about it, give it to God. You will be surprised by the outcome once you truly let God take over the reigns in your life. Keep in mind the things of this world are not permanent, we have more important things to work on that will be for all eternity. That is where the race comes in to view. We need to be working on bringing others to Jesus and seeking Him in all we do. If we keep seeking Jesus, we find what we need. There is a race to be run and we can’t let sins slow us down. Here is a nice thought: when we run after Jesus others will notice, including those who are lost. Remember keep running after Jesus
