Daily Devotionals

One of the missions here at Camp Chara is to go beyond a week of two of youth camps per a year. That is why we take the time to create lessons from God's word designed for youth to read daily and grow in the Grace and Knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We pray each one of these devo's is a source of blessings and encouragement.

Remove the Veil

But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away.

—2 Corinthians 3:14

Just as we are to pray that God will thrust out laborers into the harvest fields, we are to pray that God will cause revelation to come to those with whom we share the Gospel. This prayer should be aimed more at us than at our listeners. Why is that? Because the job of revealing the truth of salvation rests in our ability to clearly present the Gospel.

On the day of Pentecost, the veil that had been keeping people from seeing God’s plan of salvation was removed. That day, God released the Holy Spirit on the earth and He is constantly working to convince men of their sin and their need for the Lord Jesus Christ. Today, all men have a knowing that they are sinners — you don't have to convince them of that. All men know that they can't be good enough to live up to God's standards. What they don't know is how to get their sins forgiven and how to become a new man.

That's the mystery of the Gospel. The message of Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection contains the power of God to wash a sinner clean and regenerate his spirit into a new man. Here's the interesting thing. The veil still remains on the types and shadows of the Old Testament. Men still can't find salvation on their own through the law and its commandments. No, the veil is only removed through the resurrection story!

We have been commissioned to take this message of hope and victory to everyone. And if you've been born again, you have the revelation inside of you that can transform any man's life. The gospel message is the power of God. You know the message and that message is incorruptible, which means it cannot perish.

Once you've shared the Gospel with someone, several divine things take place. First, the veil is removed from the eyes of their mind. Spiritual light is shed on the dark places of their soul and their heart is laid bare. Secondly, the incorruptible seed of the Word of God, which came out of your mouth, is planted into the spirit of the person with whom you shared it. And thirdly, if they don't reject the seed, it will bring forth a harvest of revelation.

It's his acceptance of this new revelation that causes a man to bend his knee to Jesus. It's the truth that rises out of his spirit that causes him to pray for forgiveness. It's the new way that he sees Jesus that will make him give his life over to the Lord. This all comes from the simple seed you plant by sharing the message of Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection.

Keep praying that God will thrust out laborers into the harvest fields. Keep praying that God will anoint your lips and give you boldness. Keep praying that God will draw you to the lost. But put some action to your prayers. Begin by sharing the simple message of Christ with those around you. As you do, you will remove the veil from their eyes that has blinded them for years. If they don't reject the seed you've planted, salvation will come to them.

Scriptural Context

2 Corinthians 3:12-18

Concept Reinforcement

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

—Romans 1:16

Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

—Ephesians 6:19-20

For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.

—1 Peter 1:23

DO WE REALLY HAVE A BLIND FAITH?

Hebrews 11:6 tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God and that we must believe that He (God) IS. But, is our faith...
