Psalm 146:1-12, “Praise ye the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul. While I live I will praise the LORD: I will sing praise unto my God while I have any being.”
David continually praised the LORD. David is credited with writing at least 73 out of the 150 Psalms (possibly more); and even though they covered a variety of subjects, they were all written in praise of God.
David was never shy about praising God, and neither should we be. There are many reasons why we should praise God.
He created us. He loves us with an everlasting love. He sent his only Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sins, so we could be reconciled to Him.
He answers prayer when we come sincerely to the throne of grace, bringing our petitions in Jesus’ name.
God is gracious, compassionate, patient, loving.
God is Jehovah Jireh our provider; Jehovah Rapha-the God who heals; Jehova Nissi-our Refuge; Jehovah Shalom-our peace.
Psalm 145 – God is great (v.3); God does mighty, wonderful deeds (vs. 4-6); God lifts us up when we are down (v. 14); God is righteous and loving in all he does (v. 17).
Whenever you are down or defeated or going through trials, just start praising God and good things begin to happen.
“God inhabits the praise of His people”… (Psalm 22:3).
Our praise is irresistible to God. God is present and glorified when His people lift His name in honor.
There is a popular Christian song that says:
“Praise the LORD, He can work through those who praise Him, praise the LORD! Our God must have His praise…. The chains that seem to bind you, serve only to remind you, that they drop powerless behind you, when you praise Him.”
(From Praise the LORD written by Elliott Bannister and Michael Hudson)
We can never
praise God too much!
