Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has healed you." —Luke 18:42
God loves you so much that He desires for you to be healed. Many people can’t get a handle on this truth. It’s difficult for many because we as humans usually relate our upbringing and our parental figures to our view of God the Father. Even if our parents were great and loved us unconditionally, their inability to act miraculously on our behalf may have tainted our perception of God. It’s time that we stop evaluating God’s love for us by our human experience. We must allow our perception of God to be changed through His personal revelation. God reveals Himself and His nature through the Bible.
God knew that we would have a tendency to interpret His actions and His character through our own experiences. He isn’t taken by surprise at this. In His foresight, He recorded His interactions with everyone from Adam to the Apostle John. He invested 4,000 years into creating a written image of His mercy, love and desire to heal. Why? Because He knew we would have difficulties accepting this side of His nature, especially knowing from where we would come.
God began demonstrating His healing desire and was sure to record it in the book of Genesis. God stretched forth His hand to heal Abimelech and his wife in response to the prayer of Abraham. Then, in the book of Exodus God announced to the whole world that one of His names is Jehovah Rapha—the self-existing one who reveals Himself as the Healer! God has always been a healer and He always will be. The Word tells us that God is not a man that He should lie or change His mind. It further explains that God is consistent and doesn’t change like the shifting shadows.
God healed men and women under the old covenant and He heals men and women under the new and better one. He healed men through His prophets and His priests. He has healed folks through angels and through men. He heals people through His Word and through His actions. He heals men through His dear Son Jesus and through His Church. God is still healing today!
Let’s stop judging God’s character by the earthly examples set for us by our parents and others who have cared for us. Let’s stop rating His desire and ability to heal by our experiences and let’s begin formulating what we think by the Word. God desires to heal you and He is well able to do so. Before you receive His healing, you must receive this truth! God wants to heal you! Believe it and begin to receive His healing power today!
